The UK has set the bar high for a quality education programme with world-class higher education for a long time, it is known that foreign students choose the UK, because of the length of the programme and the standard of life, to be given the opportunity to attach value to their profiles from prestigious institutions, which are on the top 100 competing for students from all over the world of diversified community.

Recent conditions, taken into account the fact each student’s checklist whether to pick the UK as their destination

  • COVID- Online classes cannot give the best impact for Technical & Research oriented courses especially,
  • Post Brexit- There would be a huge effect on giving priority to all applicants, even the EU, particularly as they can be the most impacted by the regulations on visas and immigration rules.
  • PSW- Post study work visa and citizenship foundation points (Points Base system) to be enforced from January 2021.

The question is how universities and UK government are going to handle this impact ?
What the Universities and Government can offer the International students to retain the highest number of enrolments.
Points to consider Government rules, visa fees and immigration support, as the freedom of movement is the concern for most of the EU Students. Sponsorship, work opportunities to the skilled people
What are the things that can be considered?

1- Promoting the United Kingdom internationally from established organisations such as the British Council, UUKI and many other platforms.
2- ERASMUS EU Programme will have an effect with post-Brexit β€” Proper negotiation expected for students already participating with potential benefits and welcoming new students.
3- Promote the perspective of the Overseas education, as the United Kingdom will be substituted by Asia in recent studies.

Asia may compete with the UK post COVID β€” Based on the prediction made by the Manager of Global Higher Education at Oxford University that East Asia will develop as a global centre for foreign student mobility.

To mitigate the above-mentioned prediction, this can be achieved by recruiting students from India, China and the rest of the Asian countries as we can see Canada and Australia are on high growth welcoming good number of students every academic year offering PR Visa with creating good attention for skilled people. Also, prioritising country like India into Low risk category which can create huge recruiting rate like before,

Proposing a post-graduate visa year raise from 2 to 4 years as a consequence of sustained development of the education sector in the long term. It was also suggested by the former United Kingdom Minister of Universities.

4- Revise International Fees – Based on survey evidence obtained from students around institutions, the fee structure for international students is comparatively high among most universities in the United Kingdom. Accommodation expenses have to refine the visa clearance range, as the Universities of London requires GBP 1024 a month in the case of London to be just the minimal expense.
5- Definite help for tuition Payment and financing for qualifying students across various channels
6- Initiate of new and Continue various Scholarships for the worth candidates
7- Visa payments Decrement for the course not more than 1 year it can help in attracting more students and professionals because there are those who decided to take short courses in the UK for professional career upgrade purposes.
8- Part time Job and Internship Programs for Students who are academically successful, this will be funded by the Universities and Government schemes.
9- Encourage both UK and Foreign Universities to provide exchange services such as semester exchange programmes
10- Appreciate and offer services to overseas skilled students representing the United Kingdom.

This is based on the research from the articles in UK and Gov.UK
